About This Quote

The quotation, "If it is necessary for us to do anything [in view of peace], direct us and architect." is a quote from the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. He was asked by a man whose house had been destroyed by an earthquake: “If we should rebuild his house, will we be held responsible for reimbursing him?” The prophet replied, “No.” But, if we should demolish his house, we will be held responsible for rebuilding it. The prophet then went on to say that if we demolish someone's house because of one of his sins, we will be held responsible for rebuilding it. If we demolish someone's house because of his money, we will be held responsible for not building it. And this is the same whether the person has done wrong to others or not and whether he has repented or not.
